Girls U18 Provincial Champs

Two goals by Jillian Armstrong helped propel the GIrls U18 Blazers a 2 - 0 win over the New Tecumseth Xtreme and the Provincial title on Sunday July 6th at the Penetanguishene Arena.  Robyn Peddle was unbeatable in the Blazers net in recording the Gold Medal shutout win.  The Blazers who earlier in the slipped past the Oshawa Stampede with a 2 - 1 shoot out win were not to be denied on this championship Sunday.  Marley Finan scored the shoot out winner while Jenna LeClair netted the Blazers regulation time tying goal midway into the second half.  Victoria Hutchinson was unbeatable in the shootout tending the Blazers goal.

In round robin the Blazers recored a 1 win, 1 tie and 2 loss record, but came to life on Sunday to win the championship.  The U18's dropped a narrow 1 - 0 loss to New Tecumseth followed by a 1 - 1 tie with the Oshawa U16 squad to open the tournament of Friday July 4.  Jackie Hoover was the only Blazer goal scorer in the tie.  On Saturday the Blazers lost to the Oshawa U18's by a 3 - 2 margin with goals from Hoover and Rachel McIlravey and then shutout the Xtreme U16 Girls 2 - 0 with two goals from LeClair and shut-out netminding by Peddle.

The Girls U18 roster consisted of:  Robyn Peddle and Victoria Hutchinson in goal, defenders Hallie York, Olivia Secord, Lauren Hook, Laura Brady and Mackenzie Blais and forwards Rachel McIlravey, Chanelle Proulx, Emily Richardson, Miranda Hughes, Jackie Hoover, Marley Finan, Jenna LeClair, Jillian Armstrong and Ashley Frandsen.
