Stars win Girls U14 Crown
Madison Lavereau scored the only goal of the shoot out to lead the Stars to a 2 -1 win over the Senators and in turn capture the GIrls U14 crown on Thursday July 2 at the Penetanguishene arena. In what only can be described as a strange finish to the game, the Senators openned the scoring on a goal by Sarah Lesperance with just 53 seconds remaining in regulation time and looked assured of the win. But the Stars scored on a crazy bounce goal credited to Emma Robitaille with 16 seconds remaining to knot the score at 1 goal apiece and send the game to overtime. In the overtime both the Stars goalie Allyssa Dalton and her counterpart Francis Castillo in the Senators net were flawless setting up the shoot out were Lavereau scored the lone goal out of three shooter per team.
Camden McCormich scored with just under 6 minutes remaining in regulation time to power the Oilers to a 1 - 0 victory over the Flames in the Consolation final. Natasha Restrup turned away all the Flames shooters in goal for the Oilers to record the shut out victory.
