The battle continues........... Game 2 goes to the Lions, and only fitting that the season culminates Thursday night for game 3. Steelers find themselves in penalty trouble in the first period. A major penalty is assessed to Jason Derose for the Steelers, and the Lions take advantage by scoring on twice on the extended powerplay. Special teams play a huge part for both teams as out of a combined 7 goals, 5 are scored on the PP, 1 shorthanded, and only 1 goal scored at even strength.
Lions score 3 on the PP, score 3 in the first, and then 1 late in the second to take game 2, 4-3. Pretty sure the guys were playing for Fusca on this night and it showed early. Adriano would open the scoring only 7 seconds into the game, and the Lions were flying out of the gate. Steelers would respond quickly and Chris Sebastien would tie the game up 1-1 on a tick-tak-toe play with linemates Franco Andreacchi, and Ivano Conte.
Then the special teams would take over. Lions would score twice in the first on the PP,including one with only 5 seconds left in the period. The Steelers would score shorthanded on a too many men call they were assessed for a bad line change. The second period had both teams exchange a goal each, both on the PP, however, Mark County's goal late in the second, would be the winner, and force game 3.
Should be a dandy Thursday night, and lets hope game 3 is decided 5 on 5, as it was clear game 2 went to special teams. Thursday at 9, trophy will be in building........only question remains, who will hoist it and declare themselves the Massters Fall Champs???????
