Text Summary
Special teams proved to be the difference in this tilt to determine the Tier 2 champs, and the N.Y. Nordiques come through to claim the championship!! Nords score their first 2 goals on the power play, and the Pylons penalty kill drop the ball on what proved to be the game changer. The two teams battle from the opening draw, and the period ends tied at 1. Nords score early in the second, and Giustini would tie it on a power play marker with 6:48 left in the second. It looked like we would need an OT to determine the winner of this war, but playoff MVP, Nick Darpino would put the Nords ahead just 1:24 later, and that proved to be the game winner. Nords do an amazing job shutting down scoring opportunities by Giustini and Martello, and now the Nords lay claim to Vaughan T2 championship.
Whats the next chapter for the Nords? They advance to the Provincial championships, and if they continue to play the way they did tonight, then Team Rep Jerry Di Iorio will have to make another spot on his trophy mantle!!!!
