Through membership with the league, member of the Ontario Ball Hockey Association (OBHA), we have the opportunity to purchase sticks, equipment, gloves and helmets at wholesale pricing for registered members starting in week three of our program.
The OBHA enjoys a long association with the sport of ball hockey. Formed in 1974 by a relatively small group of ball hockey enthusiasts the Ontario Ball Hockey Association (OBHA) has brought Canada’s beloved game of street hockey indoors, to now offer the most comprehensive program in Canada. The OBHA is a registered non-profit organization officially recognized as the governing body of the sport in Ontario by the National Ball Hockey Association of Canada and the World Ball Hockey Federation.
Female Graduates of the Ball Hockey in the OBHA:
Therese Brisson – member of the Toronto Women’s league for a couple of years. Also, was a ten year member of the National Women’s Ice Hockey team.
Geraldine Heaney – member of the Toronto Women’s league and the ‘Bobby Orr of Women’s Hockey’, she was a long standing member of the National Women’s Ice Hockey team. Inducted into the OBHA Hall of Fame in 2004 and Hockey Hall of Fame in 2013.
Angela James - member of the Toronto Women’s league and the ‘Wayne Grezku of Women’s Hockey’, she was a long standing member of the National Women’s Ice Hockey team. Inducted into the OBHA Hall of Fame in 2006 and Hockey Hall of Fame in 2010.
Natalie Spooner – member of the Oshawa Minor league and was a star during her four years at Ohio State University and still holds the all time goal scoring record for the school. She is a currently a member of the National Women’s Ice Hockey team and Olympic Gold medallist. Currently with the Toronto Furies of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League.
Jennifer Wakefield – member of the Oshawa Minor league and was a member of Team Ontario at the 2007 Winter Games where she led the tournament in scoring and played university hockey for New Hampshire and Boston University. She is currently a member of the National Women’s Ice Hockey team and Olympic Gold medallist.
Tara Watchhorn - member of the Oshawa Minor league and was a member of Boston University where her team advanced to the NCAA quarter finals. She is a currently a member of the National Women’s Ice Hockey team and Olympic Gold medallist.
