Presidents Message

Welcome to the PMBHL

My name is Guye Vondette. I am the founder, and President, for this inaugural season. I am also the RIC/Supervisor, I am a referee instructor at the refs certification clinic and am on the Board of Directors in the position as "Tournament Director" for the OBHA.

This league starts on April 18th and runs through til June 30th. We play Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri at 5,6,7,8pm depending on registration numbers.

Tentativly I am hoping to place the Tykes on Fri, Novice on Thurs, Atoms on Wed, Peewee's on Tues. This is to avoid conflicts with other major sports groups. But these may change due to registration numbers.

This league is a co-ed league with girls and boys playing on the same teams. It is available to all residents no matter where you live. There are no zone restrictions for ball hockey. 

I am holding the league in Millbrook due to floor availability. The game's are played on weeknights so as to keep your weekends free for family time. The season ends June 30th when school finishes so it won't affect summer holidays. We play in a covered arena so no games will ever be cancelled due to rain etc. Only unforseen issues like power failures etc.

I will place a minimum of 11 players and a maximum of 16 players per team. Ideally I would like 13 or 14 per team.

I will try to keep all the teams fair and equal so we may move players around after the first few weeks to equalize the teams. So please tell us when registering the expierence of hockey both ball & ice hockey. Also jersey size. 

Coaches ,refs and timekeepers will be needed. Coaches and trainers do not need to be certified, Refs do however, The refs clinics are posted on the OBHA web site with registration information. I am instructing at the clinic in Oshawa on March 25th so that would be a perfect one for refs to attend. Please send your interest to me first before registering because I am only taking a certain number due to player registration numbers. Clinics are $40 for minor refs and $95 to ref the adult leagues that I also look after. A refs jersey is around $60. Black blants (short or long), and black shoes.

I will be hosting an in-house clinic for coaches, timekeepers and refs which will include a classroom explaination of rules, regulations and procedures. There will be also an on-floor demonstration for officials to explain positioning and basic rules. Coaches and parents are also welcome to learn about the diffent rules.

I am also hoping to put together at least one tournament team per division to attend OBHA tournaments including our own if we run one. Also to attend provincials. Tyke & Nov are held in Trenton / Belleville the weekend of July 7,8,9th and the Atom / Peewee are the weekend of July 14,15,16th in Oshawa.

These teams will be an additional cost and will not be payed for through the $150 house league registration.
